HR Infrastructure Turnaround | Significant Workforce Reduction

Leading a nonprofit through a significant workforce reduction...

Challenge/Goal
This well-known and highly respected nonprofit entity initially brought us in to replace the third-party entity providing HR support and Payroll services due to concerns over the process and cost of services. Three weeks in, we were informed that due to financial difficulties, two main programs were being eliminated which would result in the majority of the employees being laid off.

Our Role HR Infrastructure Turnaround | Significant Workforce Reduction
To address the initial goal, our HR team quickly got up to speed, cleaned up HRIS data and system set-up, reconciled PTO balances, addressed HIPPA issues, resolved benefit questions, revised certain employment documents, and supported their payroll process.

When asked to assist with the workforce reduction, our team rose to the task, reviewed compensation, and made recommendations on severance options based on the budget. We then prepared exit packages, scripts for managers, FAQ’s for employees and shepherded leadership through the difficult task of laying off a very seasoned and tenured team and helped to navigate questions and emotions.

Results
We were successful in achieving both goals, and our team was praised and acknowledged for the thorough, thoughtful, and respectful way in which this nonprofit was supported during this difficult time.
